Learn the history and life in the 19th century on the Ranchos of Long Beach. Join us on the Rancho to Rancho tour Sat. Oct 19, 2019. The tour will start with lunch then to Rancho Los Alamitos and end at Rancho Los Cerritos

Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos were established by the heirs the 1790 Nieto Family Land Grant in Alta California. In 1833 this was divided into 5 Ranchos. The 25,000 acre Rancho Los Alamitos, Ranch of the Little Cottonwoods, was centered on a hill overlooking the San Gabriel River while the 27,000 acre Rancho Los Cerritos, Ranch of the Little Hills, was adjacent to the Los Angeles River. The Ranch houses that were built were the center of family and farming activity on the Ranchos.

For more information about the Ranchos:  https://www.rancholosalamitos.com/index.html             https://www.rancholoscerritos.org/

We will meet at 11:00 AM  for lunch and depart promptly at 12:30 PM for the drive to Rancho Los Alamitos. There is limited parking there so carpooling up the hill is encouraged. Departing promply at 2:30 there is plenty of parking at Rancho Los Cerritos.

The free tours will last about 1.5 hours lead by docents who may be in period costume re-enacting ranch life. The tours of each Rancho will briefly touch on the history of each. You are encouraged to come back  at a later date to spend more time. Both Ranchos are open Wed-Sunday 1:00-5:00 pm.

Due to the anticipated size of the event,  participants may be divided into groups. Each group requires a lead and sweep car. Are you willing to fill one of these roles?
Even if you are not a lead or sweep car, all members should be familiar with the PCA Tour Guidelines https://www.pca.org/resource/event-guidelines-tour

For safety reasons, Lead and Sweep Cars will use GMRS Radios set to Channel 7, Sub-channel 20 to alert all participants to road conditions. If you have one, please bring it.

Also write down the Mobile numbers of the Lead and Sweep cars that will be given at the Participants'  Meeting before the start of the tour.

This is a “Rain or Shine” event.
